Map out
24 juin – 31 juillet 2010

The idea of abstraction is not dead, since it is a means of depicting our world trough the mode of equivalence. Map out wants to be a manifesto and a way to outline a new function of painting. The demonstration rests on the recent practices of eight artists, eight different personalities belonging to two generations.

Zenita Komad
26 mai – 20 juin 2010

“ When the letters are bored – and only then – they play paint-box. They form an orderly line, first the ‘a’, and all the way in the back the ‘z’, from white through yellow, red, green, and blue to black. They do this in the hope that somebody will mix them up, stir them up a bit. Then the […]

Chloé Tallot
10 janvier – 9 février 2013

Using words, colours and images, Chloé Tallot takes Rimbaudʼs experiment beyond alphabetical length. She asked the writer and founder of the Arte (Franco-German) television channel, Jérôme Clément, to give a series of 33 words from his books, and to attribute a colour to each one. Red was the most frequent choice. Red, the colour of revolt, honour and wounds. And, […]

Russell Crotty

Known for paper-coated suspended globes and large-scale books containing a fervent network of ballpoint pen lines and color washes, Crottyʼs vast body of work challenges the very definition of drawing, pushing the genre towards minimal sculptural installation.

Terry Taylor
16 novembre – 22 décembre 2012

Terry Taylor has one tireless model for her cadaverous oil paintings: the human skull – the braincase, the cranium, the ʻbrainpanʼ. She paints skulls with an insistent repetition. Here stacked copiously as in medieval ossuaries or mass graves; here solitary and poised as for royal portraiture; here gussied up in elaborate costume for ceremonial scenes of marriage, sacrifice and biblical […]
